Grace started out riding in the hills of sleepy hollow and quickly fell in love with jumping. Under the guidance of Beverly Jovais (Owner/ Operator of Chestnut Hil), Grace progressed from cross-rails to qualifying for Pony Finals on her green pony Woodland’s Iris and fell in love with the process of bringing along a green horse. Grace’s equestrian education continued with the support of Meadow View Farms (Lynn & Sarah Mullins) while earning a bachelor’s in Animal Science and competing successfully in the 3’ AO Hunters & Equitation. While vet school was plan A, an elective course her senior year reinvigorated the love and adoration for how animals and humans learn. Instead of vet school, Grace returned to riding with Beverly Jovais as an amateur and took her first venture into the purchase and progression of green horses. One of those green horses, Beckham, fundamentally changed the way Grace viewed both the foundation and the depth of relationship possible when invited to attend the 2012 Buck Brannaman Clinic in Red Bluff, CA. Under the guidance of Tina & Ali Cornish, she shifted her focus away from competition and onto horsemanship with a young Quarab gelding, Sawyer. The horse show bug is not one that goes away however and 2017 presented the opportunity to pull her ongoing study of natural horsemanship forward with excellence in the show ring on a borrowed mount.. Now in 2023 (several green horses and a few tech layoffs later), she is transitioning from horses as her hobby to teaching horsemanship, guiding equine-assisted micro retreats, and the development of green ponies as her full time focus. Her own equine education continues under the tutelage of BTH equestrian, showing competitively, and clinicing with some of the best (Buck Brannaman, Bernie Traurig, GraceLynn Dressage). Her own higher education continues via a Masters in Psychology, starting fall 2023.
