Grace Rankin
Co-founder
Grace started out riding in the hills of sleepy hollow and quickly fell in love with jumping. Under the guidance of Beverly Jovais (Owner/ Operator of Chestnut Hil), Grace progressed from cross-rails to qualifying for Pony Finals on her green pony Woodland’s Iris and fell in love with the process of bringing along a green horse.
Grace’s equestrian education continued with the support of Meadow View Farms (Lynn & Sarah Mullins) while earning a bachelor’s in Animal Science and competing successfully in the 3’ AO Hunters & Equitation. While vet school was plan A, an elective course her senior year reinvigorated the love and adoration for how animals and humans learn. Instead of vet school, Grace returned to riding with Beverly Jovais as an amateur and took her first venture into the purchase and progression of green horses.
One of those green horses, Beckham, fundamentally changed the way Grace viewed both the foundation and the depth of relationship possible when invited to attend the 2012 Buck Brannaman Clinic in Red Bluff, CA. Under the guidance of Tina & Ali Cornish, she shifted her focus away from competition and onto horsemanship with a young Quarab gelding, Sawyer. The horse show bug is not one that goes away however and 2017 presented the opportunity to pull her ongoing study of natural horsemanship forward with excellence in the show ring on a borrowed mount..
Now in 2023 (several green horses and a few tech layoffs later), she is transitioning from horses as her hobby to teaching horsemanship, guiding equine-assisted retreats, and the training and sale of green ponies as her profession.
Her own equine education continues under the tutelage of BTH equestrian, showing competitively, and clinicing with some of the best (Buck Brannaman, Bernie Traurig, GraceLynn Dressage). Her own higher education continues via a Masters in Psychology, starting fall 2023.

Brittany Massey
Co-Founder
Brittany grew up riding on her parent’s ranch in Northern California and as a teen worked for a local trainer which allowed her to compete on the Arabian Horse Show Association and Arabian Sport Horse circuits at the A, Regional and National level (1996-2000). In 2000 she was hired to start colts and compete young Arabian Sport Horses for a breeding farm in Michigan. While in Michigan she started young horses for dressage, eventing, endurance, and the Arabian Sport Horse circuit. In 2002 she was the assistant trainer for Garn Walker of Garn Walker Stables in Auburn, CA, riding and showing horses, starting colts and traveling extensively, preparing horses for competition from A shows to World Finals. Brittany managed Five Oak Farms hunter/jumper barn in Orangevale, CA from 2004 to 2007 managing daily operations of a competitive 25 horse operation while competing her own horses and sale horses. She maintained a robust beginner lesson program while attending college to pursue her Biology degree. Continuing to compete her own horses, Brittany started BTH Equestrian Enterprises LLC in 2009 and continues to operate BTH as a sport horse training program for all ages of riders and levels of horses. Her clients have competed extensively throughout the western US with success in USHJA, USEA, and USDF recognized competition as well as year end awards both locally and regionally. Brittany continues her own education through clinics with renown horsemen like Buck Brannaman, James Wofford, and George Morris as well as lessons and educational seminars offered through USEF, SAHJA, and USEA.
From trailer loading to show jumping, the goal of the BTH program is to develop happy, relaxed horses who understand and enjoy their jobs while teaching their riders and handlers how to best communicate through effective aids, proper equitation, and good timing.
